I Do for Self Care
1. I Take Naps . . . with My Cats
My kitties, Sonny and Gizmo, always keep me company during nap time.
What's the best way to nap?
Close the blinds.
Light a candle.
Do NOT get completely under your covers.
Instead, slip under a cozy throw.
Do this for a minimum of one hour and
you'll thank me later!
2. I Take Hot Baths
At the end of long day of running to networking events, emails,
Zoom chats and a 45-minute work out, I'm ready to soak my bones
in a long hot bath. Here's my bath time routine:
Run the water as hot as I can take it - it cools off fast!
Add my favorite essential oil (lavender) and some epsom salts for good measure.
I set up my iPad, pop on my favorite "girl" show and sink back and take a good long soak.
3. I Stretch
I spend a lot of time at my computer - as I'm sure you do too!
But at the end of a long day hunched over my laptop, I always remember to do a few upper body stretches to work out the kinks.
I also do this throughout my day, taking breaks at least every hour.
4. I Listen to True-Crime Podcasts While Driving . . . Anywhere.
I fell in love with True Crime podcasts on our two-day drive from Philadelphia to South Florida back in 2022. And now I'm obsessed!
Each day I carve out an hour for myself running errands, and while I'm out and about, I put on a new story. Driving in the Florida sun flanked by palm trees takes me out of my office and sets me right for the rest of my day!
